I had a softball game tonight & I dove back to a base my helmet flew off &i got hit in the head by something, not sure what, lol. . But anyways what are some signs/symptoms of a concussion most likely minor & what about for the day after what would be some symptoms? & other info on concussions. THANKS. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. As a concussion victim, unfortunately I know what it's like to have a concussion (January 2011) Since you don't remember what exactly hit you in the head, that's definently a sign of a possible concussion, which is not remembering part or the whole event. Like you, I didn't remember part of my traumatic event, I had people who saw it tell me. The best and safest thing for you to do is to go see a doctor. Sometimes signs and symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent. They can last for days, weeks or even months, depending on the severity. The most common symptoms after a concussive traumatic brain injury are headache, amnesia and confusion. Since you think yours is minor, my best bet is that is what you will be feeling only that for a couple of days. Signs and symptoms of a concussion may include (*-symptoms I have felt): Headache or a feeling of pressure in the head*,Temporary loss of consciousness* (not at the event, but i've fainted many times), Confusion or feeling as if in a fog*, Amnesia surrounding the traumatic event*, Dizziness* or "seeing stars", Ringing in the ears*, Nausea or vomiting*, Slurred speech*, Fatigue• Symptoms may sometimes not even start to affect you til a few days, even weeks later. Some Concentration and memory complaints*, Irritability and other personality changes*, Sensitivity to light and noise* (just noise for me), Sleep disturbances* (I sleep more often), Psychological adjustment problems and depression* (I had loss of hope for about a mo one time, to the point where I cried all day for that month, and never have felt so impatient before), Disorders of taste and smell Sorry if I am scaring you, but this stuff is real. It even shocked me when I heard about all of these, and how I had to face them for the past few months. Not a lot of people know about concussions. You should go see a doctor, if you have felt some of these symptoms, and healing from a concussion can take time. Since you say yours is minor, I'd say for you healing time is probably at least about a week. Usually recovery from a concussion includes, cognitive rest, and you won't be able to play contact sports until you are formally cleared by the doctor. It could be worse than it actually seems, but I can't tell since you didn't include enough information on how you've been feeling. It is better to be safe than sorry. And, if you do have a concussion, you will get better, just like me, with each passing day It's been such a slow six months for me, but I have not lost hope yet.
